Product details
Franziska Böhler is a nurse and care activist. Her commitment to better conditions in nursing has resonated with many. However, there was a time when she could no longer continue. Too much was coming at her: she was admired, sought for advice, and at the same time criticized, insulted, and threatened. Franziska Böhler tries to meet all these demands – as a mother of two children, as an activist, and as a nurse. She attempts to ignore the hate and let criticism roll off her back, but eventually, that becomes impossible. Panic attacks and burnout are the consequences. Additionally, there is the frustration that nothing changes regarding the catastrophic conditions in nursing. Nevertheless, nursing remains Franziska Böhler's dream profession. She identifies with it; it grounds her.
In a very personal and brutally honest manner, Franziska Böhler describes what her commitment to nursing has done to her, how she nearly broke under the pressure, became ill, and was able to heal again. Because in order to help others, one must first be well oneself. She raises the question of how we treat those who dedicate themselves to helping others – whether in hospitals or through activism.
