In the age of globalization and the accompanying increase in geographical mobility, intercultural encounters are no longer uncommon. Even on the most intimate level, more and more relationships are developing between people from different cultures. Jessica Bielinski examines in her study the specific problem areas that can arise in a bicultural partnership. What difficulties emerge from the meeting of two cultural systems with different values, norms, and behaviors, and how do those affected cope with them? How do families and the social environment react to a relationship with a foreign partner? In narrative interviews, three couples share their experiences that they have had during their relationship in Germany. Based on the statements of the respondents, Jessica Bielinski identifies specific areas of conflict.
