The goal of many rehabilitation measures is to treat offenders in such a way that they do not reoffend after serving a prison sentence or being placed on probation. However, only a few are successful, as they do not address the right issues. Bernd Heyder's approach of client-centered violence analysis® (KGA) offers an innovative solution that can be applied within the framework of anti-aggression training. The KGA® recognizes that offenders have a significant self-esteem problem, which they can temporarily compensate for through violence. However, their violent acts are directed against their own values. The guilt they should actually feel is neutralized in a self-deceptive manner. As a result, they find themselves in a dilemma, as violence does not lead them out of their self-esteem issues, but rather deeper into them.
