The present work emerged against the backdrop of the author's years of intensive work with victims of violent assaults. Their primary question in connection with coping with the consequences of such an act was repeatedly about the "why." This led to the idea of interviewing perpetrators who have committed such a crime against physical integrity and engaging with their responses. Suitable subjects were found in the Würzburg Correctional Facility. Jutta Wiessmann conducted several hours of interviews with ten convicted prisoners for sexual offenses about their lives before and after the acts and their own confrontation with it. How does someone develop into a perpetrator who fundamentally and violently injures and disrespects another person's dignity and humanity? How does he cope with his own actions?.
