A change of carpet that wipes out entire territories, a mafia victim singing arias in a pot of noodles, morbid associations in the face of a nuclear spin tube, decapitated cucumbers on the doorstep, a lion in the garage – everyday life can be so exciting. Then, on an otherwise deserted street, a lone pedestrian appeared, a sort of heavenly signpost angel. When he reached my level, I called out to him from the car window. The angel turned around to me kindly, which nearly caused him to stumble – he was unfortunately quite drunk, completely wasted, as the people from Hanover would say. Nevertheless, I asked him for directions since I had already addressed him. And then the real miracle happened: the drunken angel opened his mouth and explained to me the way to my new abode in slightly slurred but beautifully articulated High German. I was impressed.
