Confronted early on with the themes of death and mourning, the author has compiled thoughts on death and resurrection from various cultures and world religions spanning over 5,000 years in this work. When she nearly drowned in a river at the age of 11 and her heart had already stopped, but the time for farewell was evidently not yet upon her, she experienced a near-death experience filled with a world of beauty and unconditional love, which made her lose all fear of dying. Her decades-long friendship with death researcher Bernard Jakoby, her participation in seminars with Bernard, and her exchanges with those affected led her to conclude that death is an illusion and that consciousness maintains continuity beyond the process of dying. It is merely the shedding of a material body belonging to the Earth, which we need for experiencing, feeling, and recognizing during our journey through the polar worlds of time and space, but which has fulfilled its purpose at the moment of death. Freed, unscathed, and completely healthy, we transition to another dimension without our previous relationships or individual character being affected. We are and remain the same; we stay connected in love and friendship to all those people and animals with whom we had a special relationship during our earthly life. And there is a reunion in another world, in another dimension. Indeed, this knowledge is present in various cultures and world religions and has been a certainty for poets and thinkers of different eras.
