The IEA study ICILS 2013 (International Computer and Information Literacy Study) measured for the first time the computer and information-related competencies of young people in an international comparison and examined the conditions for their acquisition. Against the backdrop of current developments in digital education, this second national report presents in-depth analyses for Germany in an international context. The report addresses questions regarding the role of school leadership, teacher cooperation, and the significance of full-day participation. Additionally, it looks at both school-based and extracurricular learning opportunities, as well as analyses of motivation and interest among young people in dealing with new technologies. A focus is also placed on other relevant issues for Germany, such as the role of teacher competencies.
