The author examines how suggestions for improvement from employees are evaluated by supervisors and under what conditions supervisors are willing to implement them. The main finding reveals that the relationship between employee suggestions and the intention to implement these suggestions by supervisors is entirely determined by the evaluation of the suggestions. Furthermore, it is shown that leaders demonstrate a particularly high intention to implement when they have a lot of autonomy in their work and when the ideas come from high-performing employees.
