The strategic importance of procurement has radically changed in corporate practice over the past few years. While other areas of the company, such as marketing, have long been the focus of management and thus the necessity and opportunity for the use of a controlling function has been recognized in both theory and practice, there is still a deficiency in the procurement area. In her book, Stella-Christina Jäger analyzes the function and necessity of procurement controlling. Furthermore, she describes the criteria that modern procurement controlling tools must possess today to effectively support procurement management, and exemplifies the Balanced Scorecard and supplier management as current instruments for implementing tasks and objectives.
