A seemingly large pool of workers due to high unemployment rates has long led German companies to neglect the topic of employee retention, particularly in the area of company social benefits. Although the trend of reducing these benefits was widespread, the shift in the labor market around 2006/2007 and an undeniable shortage of skilled workers have clearly highlighted the need for employers to present themselves as more attractive. Some large companies, due to historical reasons, have maintained their existing insurance schemes for their employees even during the period of social benefit recession. This provides a good reason to take a closer look at the advantages of employee insurance, from both the employer's and the employee's perspectives.
