The financial industry is considered a pioneer in the development of innovative risk management methods, such as the Monte Carlo simulation or the Value-at-Risk concept. However, the existing literature on industrial risk management mostly provides individual solutions for dealing with specific types of risks rather than integrated company-wide approaches. Christian Schiel now presents a concept for an integrated company-wide risk management approach. This offers industrial and, in particular, pharmaceutical companies the opportunity to better understand their risk situation, allowing them to manage in a risk-based as well as value-oriented manner.
