In the last two decades, the construction industry in the Federal Republic of Germany has been characterized by significant economic fluctuations. The market environment for the planning and construction of single-family and multi-family homes has deteriorated considerably. This development has also affected the company that the author uses as an example in his study: restructuring and a focus on sales and construction coordination were the consequences. To keep up with the software developments that have also taken place in planning companies for single-family homes, a new Computer-Aided Design (CAD) program was introduced in 2006. Stefan Tittmann now outlines how the company's previously fragmented IT system was transformed into a functional, integrated application system.
