The threat to the living caused by human activity, which is widely discussed today, has given the topic of creation a new urgency. Paradoxically, however, there is also a nearly complete disappearance of the message of creation in catechesis, preaching, and even theology. The creation narratives are being hidden; their message is considered no longer acceptable. This is noted by the author himself in the preface. He wonders whether all of this has lost its relevance. The four homilies of the Cardinal, along with the accompanying lecture "Consequences of the Faith in Creation," aim to bring the essential concerns of the Christian faith in creation back into consciousness and provide encouragement for their integration into proclamation and theology.
