Freya and Baldur are twins. Their mother is a witch. They live on the edge of an expansive forest, sometime in a long-gone era. During an attack, the children are separated from each other and from their mother. The book is about the children's quest, but also about an ancient prophecy that seems to center around the twins. They must face many adventures and encounter the strangest creatures along their paths, some of whom wish to help them while others intend to harm them.
