The man for special assignments in the inner circle of Hitler's Germany - this is perhaps the best way to describe Fritz Darges. Like others, he was not one of the decision-makers, but he was present when history was being made. After successfully completing the SS Junker School in Bad Tölz, Darges was appointed as an adjutant by Reich Leader Martin Bormann. Darges' training, his self-assured demeanor, and his manners brought him to the attention of the Reich Chancellor. The armored troops officer was repeatedly requested by the highest authorities during both peacetime and wartime. Darges served as a personal bodyguard to Eva Braun in Italy, experienced Adolf Hitler up close at the Berghof and in the Führer's headquarters.
