The Memory of Yiddishland: The novel about the magic of a language, a culture, a people. In her Roman palace, as if outside of time, Sulamita, an elderly lady, guards the memory of a lost land, a sunken Atlantis, where poetry reigned in Warsaw between the two world wars; written in Yiddish, this ancient language, the mother tongue of 11 million people before the last war. The orphan Pierre seeks a conversation with Sulamita in search of his lost past, his own origins, carrying only the name of his Polish grandmother in his life's baggage. Sulamita responds to him from the palace of memory. We follow the journey of three poets, "shooting stars" in the sky of Warsaw, who decided to make the old language Yiddish their own: Peretz Markish (1895-1952), Melekh Rawicz (1893).
