Feminist theory is a transnational theory in motion. Its focus is on the examination of the history and present of hierarchical gender relations, as well as the question of their connection to other forms of division, exclusion, inequality, and difference. Feminism is considered a "hot" epistemic culture. Its questions, forms of critique, and crises are shaped by the clash of positions and by a radical reconsideration of its own foundations. The contributions in this volume, which cover a period of around 25 years, document attempts to define the position of feminist critique under the conditions of social transformation processes that also change its own conditions of existence. Not least, it is the paradoxes of the "successful failure" of feminist critique that give rise to new insights.
