Die Burgenstrasse
German, G. Ulrich Grossmann, 2008Product details
The Castle Road, one of the most famous tourist routes in Germany, initially ran from Mannheim through Schwetzingen, Heidelberg, Bad Wimpfen, Heilbronn, Schwäbisch Hall, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and Ansbach to Nuremberg. Since 1994, it has been extended and now passes through the Franconian Switzerland to Bamberg, continues through the German Castle Museum Feste Heldburg to Coburg, Kronach, Kulmbach, Bayreuth, and further into the Czech Republic, Eger (Cheb), Karlstein, all the way to Prague to the Hradčany. In 60 locations, around 70 castles, palaces, and manor houses can be visited. They provide a picture of castles from the High Middle Ages to the end of castle construction in the 16th century and their "afterlife" as Baroque residences. The guide to the Castle Road covers all the buildings along the route, provides the respective historical backgrounds, and recommends a tour.
