According to our politicians, the Earth is heading towards a warming catastrophe with a drastic rise in sea levels, floods, droughts, and other weather extremes. Expensive measures are proposed to combat this: CO2 taxes, energy passports for homeowners, regulations for industry, and artificially inflated energy costs. But where and how is the climate catastrophe demonstrable? So far, only questionable models provide evidence. There have always been climate fluctuations, alongside local changes due to interventions in the existing environment, such as deforestation or specific land use, as well as disasters resulting from inadequate preparation, like coastal protection during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. The book illustrates that in earlier periods, such as the Middle Ages and around the time of Christ's birth, it was warmer, while in others, like the Maunder Minimum around 1600, there were crop failures and famine.
