In times of public discourse about globalized capitalism, the importance of human capital, managerial salaries, mini-jobs, and the effects of Hartz IV, the relationship between individuals and organizations must be redefined. At the Chemnitz workshop of the Commission on Organization within the Association of University Professors for Business Administration, organizational scientists from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, and Slovakia engaged with these relevant topics. In their contributions to this anthology, they examine, among other things, the role of actors in fundamental change processes, societal legitimacy issues of organizations, the role of social capital, trust, control, and commitment in the integration of actors into postmodern organizations and structures, as well as the transformation of human images in important social science disciplines.
