Since the end of the Suharto era, the transformation of Indonesia has brought about significant political and economic changes. This is evident in a reformed constitution, a new party landscape, and a decentralized administrative structure. Indonesian civil society has been revitalized, and there has been a reorganization of the relationship between the military and the police. Attention has turned to issues such as separatist movements, solutions to interethnic conflicts, and the implementation of good governance across all areas of policy. Violations of human and minority rights, a hesitant fight against corruption, and partially limited freedoms indicate a need for action to ensure that Indonesia's democratic consolidation is not jeopardized. An international and interdisciplinary authorship captures the possibilities.
