This edition, planned in 20 volumes, is based on a highly regarded public lecture series held by Professor Michael Bockemühl in the early 1990s at the Saalbau Witten. In his slide presentations, the speaker, adhering to his credo "The artist enables what the viewer realizes," takes his audience by the hand and guides them to the individual works of art. No speculations about their possible meanings are made, nor are abstract theories about seeing constructed; rather, the author celebrates a "feast for the eye": With wit and methodological rigor, the passionate researcher of perception skillfully directs attention to the viewing possibilities opened up solely by the artwork itself.
