Summer 2010. The World Cup has just ended, and this weekend, a festival is taking place in Karlsruhe - the largest open-air event in the region. On Sunday evening, a homeless man discovers the drained body of 28-year-old model Sofia Stern in the palace park. A brutal serial killer, known as the Vampire, who has already killed three young women in Karlsruhe and Freiburg, has struck again. At least, that's how it seems. But it turns out that he is not the culprit. Chief Inspector Vincent Fassrath and his partner Margareta Sturm uncover numerous male acquaintances in Sofia's life, foremost among them Sofia's current lover, the husband of plastic surgeon Britta von Hohenstein. And what role does her ex-boyfriend play? Or that of his business partner and managing director of the modeling agency Show Your Face, who also seems to have fallen for her? The case unfolds.
