The publication of the correspondence between Bachmann and Celan allows for new scholarly approaches to the works of these authors. Against this backdrop, the volume reveals various correlations between biography and poetry: the letters complement the authors' literary engagement with the experience of totalitarianism. Furthermore, they are texts that can be described poetologically and read within the context of the entirety of their works.
