Initiation is an ambiguous word. Initially, it refers to the transition and introduction to a new stage of life, particularly the process of coming of age, predominantly in ancient tribal societies. It also denotes an initiation into the mysteries of life, ritualized in the ancient mystery cults. Ultimately, it signifies access to entirely different dimensions of reality and the opening of unforeseen possibilities in shamanism. It has always been related to death, to the dying of the old so that something new can emerge. We use the word in a way that preserves these ancient experiences, which we respectfully and comprehensively refer to as ancient knowledge. However, we modern individuals must find the bridge with our life experiences. It is undeniable that life itself often initiates and enlightens us about its truths and mysteries: in love, in sexuality.
