The Baha'i Faith, which has its historical roots in the mid-19th century, is considered the youngest of the world religions. Today, it has followers in all parts of the globe. The emergence and development of the Baha'i Faith are attributed to the efforts of Mirza Husain 'Ali (1817-1892), the son of a Persian minister, who is better known by his title Baha'ullah (Glory of God). The Baha'i Faith teaches about a transcendent God who manifests in prophets, including Zoroaster, Jesus, Muhammad, and Baha'ullah. Baha'is aspire to a new age of peace. They are persecuted by Islamic authorities as heretics, particularly because they are often viewed as proponents of a Western and therefore anti-Islamic ideology. Towards the end of his life, around 1891, Baha'ullah wrote a letter to a bitter opponent of his faith.
