They must be forcibly brought back to the ship to continue their journey home. This myth marks the beginning of a story of forgetting, which accompanies the history of human culture as its other side and has now reached a new peak with the diminishing sustainability of digital systems and their seemingly boundless storage capacity. Goethe already called for a resistance against the destruction of memory, and in the 19th century, Romanticism sought to regain cultural memory by turning to the Middle Ages, while future-oriented ideologies aimed merely to optimize global society economically - a concept that fundamentally remains valid up to the global level.
