Die Erde ist mir Heimat nicht geworden
German, Dagmar von Gersdorff, 2011Product details
Karoline von Günderrode (1780-1806) was a gifted, intelligent, and hopeful poet of the Romantic era, as well as a passionate and radical young woman who fought for an independent life. Dagmar von Gersdorff tells the unique and tumultuous fate of the poet. Karoline von Günderrode viewed education and poetry as her only means of self-realization and breaking free from the narrow confines of her female existence. This sparked outrage and rejection. When even her great love, the married Friedrich Creuzer, turned away from her, she saw only one way out: at just 26 years old, she took her own life with the dagger she always carried as a symbol of freedom and self-determination.
