Heinrich Vogeler was part of the first generation of the Worpswede artist colony and was one of the most well-known young German artists around the turn of the century. "Dir" was first published in 1899 by Insel Verlag, although the poems were initially not intended for publication. When "Dir" was released, Vogeler colored six copies of the limited luxury edition, which was restricted to forty pieces. The present edition contains the poems and reproduces the colored drawings in color.
