Throughout all times, the ancient motifs of Christmas have inspired poets to express the message of the birth anew, against changing historical and geographical backgrounds, in always different interpretations as poetry. This volume contains 48 poems from various languages and centuries; it reflects the civil history of Christmas in poetry and the poets' attempt to return to the event of the birth. It offers poems for reading that hold their value beyond the boundaries of Christian belief or disbelief, detached from misuse and commercialization, and that advocate for Christmas, for our hopes that seem to falter.
