Kurt Tucholsky (1890-1935) is primarily known to a broader audience as a satirist and sharp-tongued critic of his time. The lyricist Tucholsky is still mainly perceived today as the author of political and socially critical poems. Poems such as "Mutterns Hände," "Der Graben," or "Augen in der Grossstadt" are part of the lyrical canon of the 20th century. In the years between 1911 and 1932, until Tucholsky's final silence in Swedish exile, alongside his literature closely related to current events, a wealth of city or seasonal poems, melancholic mood pieces, parodies of traditions and genres, or ironic portraits of his contemporaries emerges. Not least, he writes numerous chansons and couplets for revues and cabarets such as "Schall und Rauch," "Die wilde Bühne," and the cabaret der Ko.
