Product details
A director wants to rehearse a scene with four actors. It is not just any scene, but the passage from the Gospel of John known as 'Mary Magdalene at the Tomb.' They are rehearsing in an empty house on Mulholland Drive in Hollywood. The short scene, which seems so simple and clear, is played over and over again, as with each iteration it loses more and more of its familiar outline: play and reality intertwine in an almost ghostly manner. Everything apparently hinges on a twist that would be necessary for the story to become fully understandable - on a sentence that the biblical text omits, as if a mystery is meant to be discovered anew each time.
