Elsemarie Maletzke has followed the biographical and literary traces of Jane Austen through England and takes us into the wonderful world of the writer and her novels. Jane Austen loved to travel. She explored southern England from Devon to Kent; she went to London, the seaside, and Bath. What she saw pleased her immensely, and as a good patriot, she could not imagine that it could be more beautiful anywhere else. Through her eyes and her novels, we still see the classic streets of Bath, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, the cottage in Chawton where she wrote, the salons where she danced, and the curved promenade of Lyme Regis, from which Louisa Musgrove wishes to leap into Captain Wentworth's arms in the novel "Anne Elliot or the Art of Persuasion" and lands on the pavement.
