Against the backdrop of the ongoing internationalization of competition, the rapid pace of markets, and increasing global economic interdependencies, companies face ever-growing challenges. The imperative for all businesses today is simple: be innovative or fall behind. Understanding how innovative one's own company is thus forms the basis for identifying organizational or structural weaknesses and creating a climate of continuous improvement. Although there are numerous techniques and methods for measuring innovation, neither science nor practice has yet succeeded in establishing a comprehensive measurement convention for assessing innovation capability that encompasses the entire corporate innovation system. This is reflected in the high level of dissatisfaction among companies with existing approaches.
