In Hans Blumenberg's estate, there is a folder labeled "GT" that contains several smaller writings on the intellectual history of technology. In just a few pages, Blumenberg articulates, in his characteristic pointed manner, considerations on what such an intellectual history could look like—particularly in contrast to the usual history of technology. This positions him as a forerunner for the historiography of natural and technical developments, which is currently gaining traction, especially from a history of science perspective. Most of these texts are appearing here for the first time in printed form, including two longer lectures that Blumenberg delivered in the 1960s in academic contexts, as well as on the radio to a broader audience.
