French copper engravings for interior decoration served as an important medium of transfer in the field of interior art during the 17th and 18th centuries. This work examines the evolution of the image medium in France and traces the historical development of apartment decoration in the Ancien Régime based on graphic templates. Additionally, the guidelines and rules for interior design in architectural theoretical writings are analyzed, while the extensively illustrated catalog (Part 2) systematically addresses the collection of graphic templates for interior decoration for the first time.
