Politics and police leadership have increasingly focused on the consequences of growing globalization, international mobility, migration, and increasing cultural diversity, as well as how to manage these issues. Intercultural competence has emerged as both a challenge and an opportunity for improving modern police work within police training and education institutions. The book presents current cultural concepts and approaches to intercultural competence, as well as explaining common concepts of intercultural training. In the context of policing, difficulties in dealing with other cultures are illustrated in light of the peculiarities of intercultural communication. Interviews with ten experts from the University of Police and Administration provide the foundation for a comprehensive picture of the current status of intercultural competence training in police education.
