Product details

No literary text arises from nothing. Rather, literary history leads us to the stage of world literature, where we encounter more or less visible traces of other texts in every written document: they are quoted or plagiarized, commented on or criticized, imitated or transformed. The meanings that emerge from this have already been addressed by rhetoric and, above all, philology under the keyword of influence research, before the concept of intertextuality was coined in the 20th century. The classical theories of intertextuality are further developed in postmodernism. In this context, feminist and gender-theoretical as well as postcolonial approaches increasingly play an important role. However, since images, films, music, and texts—both analog and digital—also leave their marks in literary texts, they form.
