Fear is a feeling that we all know and that no one wants. However, fear is a quite useful emotion: it warns us of dangers and makes us worry about the future. Nevertheless, fear has a bad reputation: who wants to be seen as a 'scaredy-cat'? This is why many of us – both children and adults – find it difficult to talk about our fear. With her picture book, Monika Wieber offers both young and old readers the opportunity to distance themselves from the feeling of fear, allowing them to acknowledge and explore it from a safe distance. The animals that the dog Domino encounters do not hide their fear. They express it in different ways: the butterfly and the goose fly away, the little polar bear runs to its mother, the rhinoceros fights, and so on. And in the end, Domino realizes that he is not free from fear either.
