The authors engage with theological and anthropological foundations that can serve as the basis for an Islamic perspective on pastoral care. Additionally, Islamic pastoral care is placed within the historical context shaped by Christian and Jewish pastoral work. Furthermore, not only are aspects of Islamic psycho-religious support and care examined through selected examples from Muslim countries, but the Austrian framework conditions are also thoroughly explored. Based on this and the results of an empirical study, potential competence-oriented standards and content for university training of Muslim pastoral caregivers are developed.
