Product details
With "Camargue - Land in the Wind," the Rheinfelden nature photographer and author Karl Weber presents his third major work with Ismero Verlag, following "Experience Forest" and the two-volume "Fascination Nature." This book is based on the 1968 publication "Camargue - Soul of a Wilderness" by Kümmerly & Frey. In collaboration with the publisher, the author has created this new edition and selection of images from the extensive collection of Karl Weber's early work. Almost half of the entire area of the Rhône Delta remains almost untouched wilderness today. Here, it is not humans who dictate, but nature and its shaping forces. The representations in the book are organized by seasons and describe a progression from the coast to the hinterland. This includes the characteristic landscapes from the dunes to the salt steppes and the dry grasslands in the highest areas. The water bodies showcase the following landscape types: sea coast, brackish lakes, and the freshwater landscapes of the ditches, canals, and river arms of the Rhône Delta, which is home to a vast array of bird species, mammals, and amphibians—still a unique natural paradise in Europe. The author's stated goal is to highlight not only the beautiful and spectacular aspects of nature through his images and texts but also to demonstrate how much fascinating content can be discovered even in the seemingly ordinary or often overlooked and unpopular, when one looks a little deeper.
