No solution is in sight for the conflict between the Jews of Israel and the Palestinians. After nearly two thousand years of exile and persecution, following the Shoah (Hebrew for catastrophe), which saw the murder of most Jews in Europe, the Jews have found a national homeland, a safe place, in the state of Israel. However, this has come at the expense of the Palestinians, for whom their displacement from their ancestral homeland remains the Nakba (Arabic for catastrophe) to this day. Both have their rights, but these rights are incompatible. This book explains the irreconcilable positions of both sides, but it does not propose a solution nor does it make moral judgments. The only hope it offers is that in history, nothing is predictable.
