For the seventh time, the Yearbook Quality of Media Switzerland Suisse Svizzera will be published in 2016. Since its first edition in 2010, the editors have provided annual current statistics on the media categories of print, online, radio, and TV. The research group led by the late Prof. Dr. Kurt Imhof, who passed away a year ago, examines not only the development of content quality but also the usage trends and financial basis of information media. Additionally, the researchers contextualize trends and new phenomena, such as the ongoing media concentration and the significance of social media for information media. The core of the yearbook is the measurement of reporting quality developed at fög, which assesses over 60 information media from German-speaking Switzerland, Suisse romande, and Svizzera italiana. Each year, a representative selection of media contributions is evaluated according to scientific criteria regarding their relevance, professionalism, diversity, and contextualization performance. The yearbook, along with the separately published studies and reflections, provides a solid foundation for media policy debate in Switzerland.
