The present cases are intended as an introduction to International Private Law. The 15 cases are modeled after the classics of Private International Law - the most well-known and significant decisions of the Federal Court of Justice for education. Additionally, current cases have been designed to help elucidate the innovations of the Rome I Regulation, Rome II Regulation, and now also the Rome III Regulation. In the second edition, the changes brought about by the Europeanization of International Private Law have been incorporated. Case 3 from the first edition has lost its basis due to a legislative stroke and has therefore been removed. In its place, newly created cases 3 and 4 have been introduced. These are based on current decisions and address, on one hand, changes brought about by the Rome III Regulation, and on the other hand, classic questions of Private International Law (talaq, public order). They are therefore of high quality.
