Product details
For a long time, many reports about Japan have circulated in the media, especially since the earthquake-tsunami-nuclear disaster on March 11, 2011. This book is a colorful collection of numerous serious and quirky news stories and events from Japan, written by an expatriate who primarily speaks Japanese in Japan. For this book, about 100 of nearly 700 blog entries from the Japan Almanac, which has been in existence since 2006, were selected and revised. The last third of the book consists of a chronicle of events following the earthquake disaster and the direct and indirect consequences on society, as well as the media's response to the disaster in German-speaking and Japanese outlets. The events in Fukushima and further north in Japan had a significant impact on the author's life and that of his family, alongside topics from society and the economy.
