The Nazis take over Berlin, but the communist resistance continues - even though comrades repeatedly disappear, are tortured in captivity, and murdered. Everything described in this book actually happened - Jan Petersen wrote it down in 1933/34 and smuggled the manuscript abroad at great personal risk. In 1938, 'Unsere Strasse' was published in London, and it was not until 1947 that it appeared in German. It is considered the most important book from the German resistance against the Nazis.
