Product details
This collection of texts includes over 240 manifestos and proclamations of the European avant-garde, many of which are appearing in German for the first time - primarily translated from Russian, French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The book documents the international scope of the avant-garde movement, starting with Marinetti's first Futurist manifesto in 1909 and concluding on the eve of World War II with the Mexican manifesto by André Breton and Leon Trotsky in 1938. Futurism, Dada, Constructivism, and Surrealism are among the main focuses, alongside many other "isms." Explanations, country and name indexes, as well as a bibliography complete the volume.
