Product details

Author: Federico Faggin

Federico Faggin is an Italian physicist, born in 1941 in Vicenza, who has lived in America since 1968. He is considered a key figure in modern computer technology and played a significant role in the development of the world's first microprocessor. Faggin also developed silicon-gate MOS technology, which became the foundation for the production of microprocessors, EPROMs, dynamic RAM, and CCD sensors—essential building blocks of the digital revolution. In 1974, he founded the company Zilog and created the legendary Z80 microprocessor, which is still in production today. Later, as a co-founder of Synaptics, he developed the first touchpad and the first touchscreen. After retiring from the technology industry in 2008, Faggin dedicated himself entirely to the study of consciousness. Together with quantum physicist Giacomo Mauro D’Ariano, he developed a new physical model that views consciousness as the fundamental principle of reality, thereby providing profound insights for spiritual and scientific discussions. In 2011, he founded the Federico and Elvia Faggin Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the scientific exploration of consciousness and promoting theoretical and experimental research programs at American and Italian universities.
