This book aims to provide a resource for preachers, congregations, and individual meditators, offering not finished models for a homily or personal reflection, but rather suggestions for them. Everything presented is intended to serve as a quarry from which anyone can extract what they find helpful. It goes without saying that, given this purpose, a deeper interpretation of the texts was not possible; nonetheless, an effort was made to meet the most important exegetical demands for a pericope. For the three readings for all Sundays and feast days, guiding thoughts are provided that clarify the content inherent in each text and highlight the common themes shared by all three readings. These guiding thoughts and their internal connections are presented succinctly and without embellishment. Balthasar was an unparalleled expert in the Holy Scriptures.
