Not only humans but also animals influence today's lifestyles and biographies. The study explores the everyday coexistence of humans and dogs as a cultural characteristic of our social life; it compares and contrasts ethnographic research within the Austrian middle class with examples from socially disadvantaged groups, history, and literature. In the spirit of Human Animal Studies, which are critically examined, the book seeks possible connections between cultural anthropology and cynology while also contributing to a previously neglected topic in biography research.
